Note, all standard litre prices are those quoted by www.milkprices.com and are based on the following:
The liquid standard litre 4% bf, 3.3% protein, 30,000/ml Bactoscans, 200,000/ml SCC, 1 million litres a year on EODC but before seasonality, monthly profile payments, balancing, B price additions, capital retentions or annual incentive schemes. The manufacturing standard litre is to exactly the same specification with the exception of 4.2%bf and 3.4% protein.

Milk production is rising but still way behind 2021

Peak production day for GB is imminent but overall production is still well behind that recorded in 2021. Volumes are down almost 3% year on year and a recent forecast of potential 2022/23 total GB production by AHDB Dairy analysts indicates production will be down between 0.8% (down 94 million litres) and 5.3% (down 649 million litres) under different scenarios and farmers reactions to increasing costs and the time-lag before additional cash from increased milk prices hits their bank accounts.

GDT Auction falls for the third consecutive time

The average Auction price has fallen for the third consecutive time and its starting to look like it could be the start of a decline.  However, two factors played their part in this weeks fall including 3% more product available coupled with the lockdown at Shanghai container port.  Fundamentally underlying global demand for dairy product is excellent and cannot be overtaken by global milk output.

GDT average eases for the second consecutive time in 2022

Tuesday’s GDT auction result ended with a second consecutive all products average fall this time down 1% to US $4981 tonne compared to the $5039 achieved two weeks ago. The total tonnage sold was 21,511 (25,208 tonnes one month ago) with 101 (112 one month ago) winning bidders out of 159 (176 one month ago) registered bidders.   Notable price movements were: Cheddar up 2.

This increase for Tesco’s 500 plus aligned farmers takes them to over 40.84ppl and unconfirmed reports claim the farmers will receive a top up/interim April payment to help with on farm costs.
