Meadow Announces 1ppl reduction in Milk Price for August

Posted on: 31/07/23

Meadow has announced that it will be decreasing its milk price by -1.0ppl from 1st August 2023, taking its standard litre milk price to 34ppl, an equivalent manufacturing litre will be 34.6ppl. The decrease reflects the continued market pressure on the price of milk and milk based products.

Meadow had hoped to hold its milk price for August, to give the opportunity for more positivity to return to the markets, however unfortunately demand in the dairy markets, both domestically and globally, has been lacking resulting in continued price pressures.  These pressures are illustrated in the current price of cream and skimmed milk powder, both down by over 40% compared with last year.

Jim Bebb, Supply Chain Director at Meadow, comments: “We are continuously working to add value to our producers’ milk and grow the share of value-added ingredients sales, however as a business we are still impacted by the performance of the dairy markets. We had hoped to see some positive sentiment returning to the dairy markets as we fully understand the pressures being faced on farm. We hope a sustained bounce back will bring some quick recoveries to farmgate milk prices and will continue to monitor the markets closely and maintain a regular and honest dialogue with our producers.”
