Guest Speaker – Alex Phillimore – Farming Community Network (FCN)

My name is Alex Phillimore and I work as Head of Communications and Development for national charity The Farming Community Network (FCN).

FCN is a voluntary organisation and charity that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people in farming and provide support at times of difficulty and change. We have a wide network of volunteers across England and Wales who understand farming and its unique challenges and are here to listen, support and connect you to other help available.

We have been called a 'lifeline' by those we have helped, and support approximately 6,000 people each year with a wide range of issues - including mental ill-health, succession planning and animal disease.

Importantly, we want to highlight that talking to others about how we're feeling and any issues or concerns we might be experiencing is a sign of strength. A problem shared is a problem halved. We want to remind people that we're part of a supportive community that cares, and that FCN is here 365 days of the year to talk with and listen to you in complete confidence.

FCN can be contacted on 03000 111 999 or help@fcn.org.uk. We are here to help you find a positive way forward.
