10ppl milk price cut for Parkham Farms suppliers

Parkham Farms (cheese) have informed producers of both a 3ppl price reduction from 1st February followed by a 7ppl reduction from 1st March which results in a 1st March manufacturing standard litre price of 40.9ppl for Tesco aligned farmers and 38.9ppl for non Tesco farmers.

The background story could apply to any cheese maker – surplus cheese in stock made with 50p milk and prices weakening daily and with that the real value of that cheese is falling.

This quote from Peter Willes letter to his producers confirms what Ian has been beating the drum to those who bothered to take notice.

“During the Autumn of 2022 milk prices were too high, milk production has increased and sales have dropped!”

Parkham don’t hide the fact that more price cuts will inevitably follow however along with their farmer suppliers they “hope that future cuts will not be quite so dramatic”.

Parkham were one of the first processors to pay a 51ppl manufacturing standard litre price from 1st November and previously were the first UK milk processor to pay a 43ppl manufacturing price (from June 1st).
