Yes, milk prices at Christmas are extremely volatile and this year is no different with spot prices going as low as 20ppl where as “normally” its 40 to 42ppl.

Cream has also taken another dive below £2.00 to £1.90kg tops

 

The StoneXMilkprices.com total net UKMFE return to producers (allowing for haulage and processor margin) has almost stabilised according to www.milkprices.com with a total net return to producers on 19th December standing at 32.04ppl (33.28ppl in early December)

Converting this week’s GDT results using the AHDB AMPE calculator if you include transport from farm to processor stands at around 33.6ppl.

Production wise AHDB report that GB milk output is running 3.3% ahead of the same week in 2021 or over 1 million extra litres day.

Meanwhile AMPE has slipped below 40ppl (see chart at the top of this bulletin)
