1ppl milk price increase for OMSCO A litres compared to 31.25ppl paid in April 2021 outrages some producers

Posted on: 04/03/22

In a letter to producers this week the chairman of OMSCO has declared a 1ppl 1st April standard litre price increase to 32.25ppl compared to that paid 1 year ago and the 32.25ppl price is down for 3 months April to June 2022 inclusive. The grid then declares the monthly budgeted farmgate prices to March 2023 to give a budgeted total paid out price including a budgeted 13th payment of 0.6ppl to only 40ppl

With organic feed at North of £530 tonne and rising energy costs Ian’s email inbox indicates several farmers have had enough and are set to jump ship asap.  A 40p organic price for 2022/23 is not sustainable and could even be below the conventional average unless the bubble bursts.

Regional OMSCO meetings start this Monday and those standing up in front of farmers had better put their tin hats on.
