Have your say on how AHDB Dairy is run in the future

Posted on: 22/12/21

Earlier this year, it was announced by George Eustice that dairy farmer levy payers would get a vote in spring 2022.  Badged as Shape the Future is how AHDB is delivering on that announcement.

AHDB Dairy will change as follows

  • A five yearly vote by dairy farmers
  • Input into how the levy is invested/ spent with AHDB Dairy held to account for delivery as well as transparency as to where the £ has been spent.
  • How AHDB as an organisation runs efficiently and effectively (structure, value for money, accountability, governance)

AHDB Dairy want as many dairy farmers as possible to vote by registering asap.

It’s a simple process which should take 2 minutes. Click on the following link

Only by registering can you vote and if you don’t you will lose the opportunity to input into the Dairy Sector Council decision making on where it invests your levy. Basically, AHDB Dairy claim future investments in levy money will be based on robust evidence of what levy payers want.

The voting process:

  • Levy payers register to vote asap

  • In April 2022 registered Levy payers will be able to vote on 3 things and several proposals on a scale of 1 – 5 and

    • a) Dairy Sector Challenges (e.g., building a positive reputation at home & abroad).
    • b) Workstreams to address Dairy Sector Challenges (e.g., consumer campaign, exports, net zero work).
    • c) People appointed to Sector Council. A selection panel will choose new members for the Sector Council and levy payers will be asked whether they agree or disagree with these appointments
