Spot Milk under 20p as the milk river flows

Posted on: 20/04/21

Despite the cold weather and lack of grass in most of parts of the country the milk taps are on.

AHDB predicted last week that peak production would come around May 9th at around 37.8 million litres a day based on a peak 7 day average.

However, if volumes continue to run as they are at 1.2% above this initial forecast production will be up a further average 500,000 litres per day to 38.3 million litres which would be the highest daily average in the last 10 years and a nightmare for processors to handle and process.

Spot milk prices today were 18p to 21p and weakening.
